Robert McPherson, Grammy Award-winning performer whose career spans the Metropolitan Opera, off-Broadway, musical theatre and stand-up comedy, now teaching private voice lessons in Burien built on real performance acumen and stage presence.
Contact usRobert McPherson, tenor and vocal coach, has spent three decades on the roster of the Metropolitan Opera, with credits at the English National Opera, the Israeli Opera, Welsh National Opera, San Francisco Opera and the Lyric Opera of Chicago. The New York Times praised his "robust voice, agility and confidence."
In 2018 he won a Grammy Award for Best Opera Recording, singing Andres in Alban Berg's Wozzeck with the Houston Symphony.
A Seattle native who trained at the University of Puget Sound, Robert built his career from the same city where he now teaches. He's a regular performer with Seattle Opera and has sung the national anthem for the Seattle Mariners. When he's not on an opera stage, you'll find him performing as his comic alter ego, The Drunken Tenor, a show that won Best of Fest at the Seattle Fringe Festival.
That combination, elite international technique paired with a career built from breath control, stage nerves and real performance pressure, is what he brings into every lesson. He teaches the way he learned: technique first, then artistry, then the confidence to walk on stage and mean it. It's the same approach he brings as a private voice and vocal coach in Seattle, WA.

Most singers are taught pieces of their voice in isolation: breath support in one lesson, tone placement in another, performance nerves left to sort themselves out on stage. A career built across the Metropolitan Opera, off-Broadway theatre, stage musicals and standup comedy doesn't leave room for that kind of gap. Every element has to work together under real pressure.
That's the idea behind the name. Integrated Voice treats technique, breath and artistry as one connected system rather than separate skills, so what you build in the studio holds up wherever you take it next.
